Convenient audio management within a network ...
Due to the Dante® interface, it is possible to conveniently integrate the digital speaker management system DSM-48DT as a 2-channel receiver into a Dante® audio network. Both of the Dante® signals are available for the input channels IN3 and IN4, alternatively to the analogue inputs and the digital input. Thus, the DSM-48DT allows you to receive one stereo audio signal or two mono audio signals from other Dante®-enabled devices which are located in the same subnetwork and to process this/these in the same way as an analogue signal or AES/EBU signal.
Speaker management systems featuring analogue inputs as well as outputs and additionally provide a Dante® interface are called Breakout Boxes. In order to use the DSM-48DT as a receiver unit, it has to be connected to at least one Fast Ethernet switch (100 Mbps Ethernet).
Digital speaker management system,
with Dante® module.
  • 4 analogue inputs and 8 analogue outputs (XLR, balanced)
  • AES/EBU digital input, stereo
  • 2 Dante® channels
  • 64-bit DSP, sampling rate: 96 kHz
  • Dynamic range: > 118 dB
  • Latency: 0.64 ms
  • Routing via fader for user-defined routing of the inputs to the outputs
  • Audio transmission over Ethernet via Dante® protocol
  • Graphic user interface, PC editing software (devices will be identified automatically)
  • 80 user presets can be stored
  • Remote control via USB or TCP/IP LAN
  • Dot matrix display with 2 x 16 characters
  • VU meter with 4 LEDs for each channel, level display and peak
  • 482 mm (19") rack installation, 1 RS
Input (data for each channel)
  • Gain control: -48 dB to +12 dB
  • 10 parametric equalizers with 8 types of filters each
  • 2 crossover networks with Butterworth, Linkwitz-Riley and Bessel filters as well as individually created types of filters from 6 to 24 dB/oct
  • Delay to be switched between time (ms) and distance (m): 2,000 ms max. in steps of 10 µsec or 686 m max. in steps of 3.4 mm
  • Limiter threshold: from -48 dBu to +24 dBu
  • Compressor release time: 10 dB/s to 100 dB/s
  • Mute

“With the controllers range of functions, it is possible to effectively control and optimise a PA system and thus perfectly meet the requirements of practical operation. ... in order to facilitate a Dante connection between the controller and a respectively equipped transmitter, you only actually need a simple CAT cable. And this is the charm of this network solution: it is incredibly easy. It is even possible to use existing indoor installations for the transmission of audio material. In case of the DSM-48DT, this works incredibly well. ... the festival day, however, was simply fantastic: the network was set up in no time and ran smoothly from the first to the last minute.
Pros and Cons
+ app and software run smoothly
+ attractive price
+ Dante allows an easy and secure connection to existing network infrastructures
+ user-friendly controller with practice-oriented features
+ compatible with other controllers/power amplifiers and active speakers (MEGA series and DSM series)
- limitation to just two Dante inputs”
Please note:
32-bit applications, including the current version of the DSP controller, are no longer supported under the MacOS version 10.15 (Catalina). The controller software is currently being updated for 64-bit MacOS Catalina. Users of older MacOS versions as well as Windows users are not affected by this change.
Apples announcement will give you further information on the change to 64-bit technology.
